Riding Club Rules

1.

ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR PROTECTIVE HEAD GEAR AT ALL TIMES when mounted, on the showground (inc. Fancy Dress competitors). It is the duty of riders, in the interests of their own safety, to ensure that their headgear conforms to PAS015 or BSEN1384, and that chinstraps are secured. If a skullcap is worn, it must be worn with a peaked cover of uniform dark colour.

ALL PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 16 must be accompanied by a RESPONSIBLE adult AT ALL TIMES.

FALL OF HORSE OR RIDER IN ANY CLASS is elimination, please leave the ring WITHOUT remounting.

4.

ALL RIDERS must wear correct FOOTWEAR (inc. Fancy Dress competitors). (ie. not muckers, etc)

5.

JEWELLERY must not be worn by riders, wuith the exception of wedding rings, these to be taped or worn under gloves.

6.

BACK PROTECTORS are recommended in all classes and may be worn over jackets.

Whips must not exceed 30" or 76cm

8.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS or DAYTICKETS must be presented when making entries. No entry will be accepted without the appropriate membership fee. Membership cards will be issued on payment of the annual subscription. Membership may be applied for on the form provided in the schedule and should be sent to the Membership Secretary

THE COMMITTEE reserve the right to amend the schedule without prior notice, if necessary, or to cancel any class. PLEASE NOTE - entry fees are NOT refundable unless a class is cancelled.

10.

STAFFORD RIDING CLUB, its committee, or anyone acting on its behalf, shall not be held responsible for any accident or injury to any person or property however caused.

11.

ANY OBJECTIONS must be made in writing or by email within 1 week and should be addressed to the Show Secretary. They will be considered by THE COMMITTEE when it next meets. NO COMPLAINTS WILL BE DEALT WITH ON THE DAY.

AUTHORISED persons only allowed in the rings/arenas.

13.

COMPETITORS are responsible for reporting when their classes are called.
THE COMMITTEE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLASHING OF CLASSES - however, if Stewards are kept informed, it may be possible to cope with difficulties.

14.

THE JUDGES OR THEIR STEWARDS will disqualify any person who, in their opinion, is misusing a horse/pony.

15.

LOUD, OBSCENE OR DEROGATORY LANGUAGE at the ringside or during competition, will not be accepted

16.

THE JUDGE'S DECISION IS FINAL.

17.

NO HORSE OR PONY under 4 years of age will be permitted to compete in ridden classes.

ANY HORSE OR PONY MISBEHAVING IN A DANGEROUS MANNER WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE RING

LEAD REIN HANDLERS MUST PAY £1.00 DAY MEMBERSHIP IF NOT ALREADY COVERED BY FULL OR FAMILY MEMEBERSHIP

LEAD REIN riders may ride in classes stated in the schedule. Once off LR, you cannot compete in LR Classes.

21.

GYMKHANA CLASSES - no WHIPS or SPURS are permitted and ponies must not cross other lanes. Riders must be correctly mounted at the start and finish of each race. Ref. Rule 2. Fall of Rider - elimination for that game only.

22.

ALL SATURDAY CLASSES no SPURS allowed.

23.

NURSERY STAKES - no SPURS allowed.

24.

'WORKING IN' only permitted in designated areas - working in areas are for the use of COMPETITIORS ONLY

25.

ALL DOGS ARE TO KEPT ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES for their safety and the safety of others.

26.

ANY PERSON FOUND TO BE MISUSING A HORSE/PONY IN ANY WAY, OR SEEN TO BE RIDING IN A MANNER LIKELY TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE SHOWGROUND IMMEDIATELY, WITH NO REFUND OF ENTRIES ALREADY MADE.

PLEASE USE LITTER BINS PROVIDED - or take litter home.

28.

IF WET WEATHER makes driving conditions difficult on the field, please ask for assistance, in order to minimise damage to the ground, albeit at own risk. Donations to the Club for this service will be gratefully received!

29.

PLEASE NO MUCKING OUT ON FIELD FROM TRAILERS ETC.

30.

PLEASE PARK ECONOMICALLY, BUT WITH CONSIDERATION TO OTHERS. (i.e. look out for side ramps & access to further parking)

BY ENTERING ANY CLASS IN THIS SCHEDULE COMPETITORS ARE DEEMED TO HAVE ACCEPTED AND UNDERSTOOD THESE RULES

SHOWJUMPING - In accordance with BSJA rules.
SHOWING - In accordance with BSPS rules.
DRESSAGE - In accordance with British Dressage rules.
WORKING HUNTER - BSPS rules for judging and dress will apply, but we have chosen to dictate our own age limits, and to build courses of a suitable nature for the standard of our competitors.
